*CONTEST*: Win a FREE Nightmare Snatcher journal!

THE CONTEST HAS ENDED!
Thank you for all the submissions. The winner will be announced tomorrow!

****************************************************************

I have a brand new yellow Nightmare Snatcher journal available in my shop that needs a name. Name my yellow friend and you get to take him home for your very own! Now, only one name and winner will be picked, but you can submit as many names as you want.

Note that I enjoy names that have a reason or a reference behind the name. For example my Lumpkin journal is named for 'Fatty Lumpkin' the pony in the Lord of the Rings and Fribbler comes from the word 'fribble' which means to waste or fritter something away. So if you have a reason for your choice be sure to communicate that to me as well.

You have a week, from 5-5-09 to 5-13-09 at midnight, to submit as many names as you want. So let the naming begin! Winner will be announced here after the contest ends!

HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST:
Submit your name/names here in the blog along with your e-mail address/some way to contact you OR e-mail your entry to: sarah@nightmaresnatchers.com
Please note that if you submit your e-mail here on the blog, it will be visible to the public! If you e-mail me instead, your e-mail will be kept private.
•If you have a reason for the name, submit that too! I'd like to hear your thought process.
•Contest ends Wednesday, May 13th 2009 at midnight EST.
•Submit as many times as you want up to the deadline! There is no limit on entries.
Winner will be announced on Friday, May 15th, 2009.
PRIZE: 1 Yellow Nightmare Snatcher, as of yet unnamed.

  2. I suggest "Grundle".
It's a mixture of "Grendel" and "grumble" and "mumble".

Love the journal and love the whole idea of nightmare snatchers. Hope you get many submissions and find the perfect name!

  12. Okay, my vote is silly and probably not what you're looking for, but here goes:

    I say Trognuf.

Trognuf is what it sounds like when my daughter (almost 2 years old) says "Strong Enough," which I would think that the snatchers need to be. But your yellow guy (girl?) looks pretty laid back, so I think a lazier pronounciation (such as my daughter uses) would be fitting.

Told you it was silly! =0)

  13. what about Daffy like a Daffodil?

    Lemmy? After a Lemon.

  15. Seesigh - s/he has one eye and looks like s/he might be sighing to me
Dandeleyeon- reminds me of a dandelion a lot, and i like the play on the one eye
Buzz - the yellow makes me think electricity
Poe - Edgar Allen Poe (and his dark poetry that seemed full of his fears to me)
Oz - the yellow brick road from wizard of oz
Fuzzeye - fuzzy and eye, sorta self explanitory
Sunshi/Sunchi - combo of Sun for the color and the japanese word Tenshi/Tenchi which means angel, and i think these books are like angels to those who recive them
Happeye - yellow is a happy color to me, and the one eye thing again
Pop - the bright yellow makes me think pop art
Popeye - The pirate... and also could be a mix between pop art and eye
Twinkle - like a star, the yellow could be the color of stars
Celeste- for the meaning of it, which is Heavenly, and i know for me a book like this would be heaven sent right about now
and it also comes from Celestial, like the sun and the stars from which s/he borrows his/her color
(Celeste is my name, but i don't think it should be there because its my name, the name just fits to me)
Gracey - from Gracey Lou Freebush, aka Miss Congeniality
Iris - from the single eye... and the flower (bright and cheery)
Flicker- from the flame like look

i think i am out of ideas for now...
found this through craftster just so you know

    cdmoir@msn.com

and i am putting this as anonymous because it won't let me put it through with any of the urls i have

  16. I love these little guys!! So cute and original!

I only have one suggestion for now...though I might have more later.

LEMCHOMP or LEMONCHOMP - Well he is quite a bright yellow, which makes me think of Lemons, which makes me think of bad things, or things that don't live up to their expectations. Chomp is because well...he is going to eat all the "lemons" out of our lives, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I love these journals! And they're so well priced!

    My suggestions:
Sulley - as in from Monsters, Inc. It's a bit obvious, I know, but that fur looks the same! Except for color... (or Wazo, for Mike Wazowski, the green, one-eyed one)
Cyclops - such an underappreciated name

I also found some more one-eyed names with a bit of googling:
    Hagen - Norse mythology
    Kang/Kodos - from the Simpsons
Muno - Yo Gabba Gabba, anyone?
    More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_one-eyed_creatures

  28. Leetso or Nayee---Navajo see uranium and materials for atomic power as a monster. The Navajo word for monster is nayee. The literal translation is “that which gets in the way of a successful life.” Navajo people also believe that one of the best ways to start to overcome or weaken a monster as a barrier to life is to name it. Every evil -- each monster -- has a name. Uranium has a name in Navajo. It is leetso, which means “yellow brown” or “yellow dirt.”
